David Štojdl is the mayor of the town of Trhové Sviny in the České Budějovice region. In the 2026 municipal elections he led the ticket of the Naše Česko movement, which according to Deník consisted mostly of non-party candidates [1]. Previously, in earlier elections, he had led a ticket in Trhové Sviny put together under the ODS banner [1].

2026 election result

The Naše Česko ticket led by David Štojdl won more than 68 percent of the vote in Trhové Sviny and 18 of the 23 seats on the town council [1]. The remaining seats went to ANO with two seats and to KDU-ČSL, Nestraníci and Volba pro město with one seat each [1]. Deník described the result as belonging among the political records [1].

David Štojdl commented on the result: “It's an excellent result, really a one-of-a-kind achievement.” [1] He named the work done over the previous term as the main reason for the success: “We worked hard for those four years, and it showed in Sviny. People saw that things were getting done.” [1] He also said the result was helped by a calm campaign free of mutual attacks, which he said was conducted by Naše Česko together with three of the other four competing groups [1].

Future direction

David Štojdl described the political atmosphere in the town by saying: “We talk with everyone.” [1] After the previous election he had formed a coalition that, according to Deník, bridged the town's traditional political divides, and the mayor expected to continue in a similar spirit [1]. Regarding the future arrangement he said: “We don't have to form a coalition now. But we're in contact with ANO, Nestraníci and KDU-ČSL, we'll invite them to talks, but we won't form a coalition.” [1] He credited the whole ticket for the result: “The fact that we won 18 seats is thanks to everyone on the ticket. Voters recognized everyone's work.” [1]
