Prague City Hall has announced a tender for improvements to part of the Vltava riverside near Ledárny in Braník. The estimated cost is 64.2 million crowns excluding VAT, according to the public procurement bulletin.[1][2]*

Scope of the Improvements

A path for pedestrians and cyclists will be created, including a new footbridge across the inlet near the paddling club. It will begin at the mouth of the Kunratický potok, follow the route of the current paved path to a children's playground, and after the footbridge will continue along the Vltava bank past the campsite to U Kempinku street, where it will connect to the existing cycle route. During construction, access to the river is to be maintained for the TJ Kotva Braník rowing club.[1][2]

Cycle Route A2

The improvements are meant to ensure continuity of the backbone cycle route A2, which in this section of the riverside currently takes a detour along the road, and to make movement easier for pedestrians, runners, cyclists and skaters. Route A2 connects the southern and northern edges of the city along the right bank of the Vltava and is 31 kilometres long.[1][2]

Preparation of the Tender

The city's leadership approved the plan in 2022 and revised it this year, raising the price from the original estimate of 47 million crowns excluding VAT. According to a 2022 document, the contract was supposed to be awarded that same year, which did not happen.[1][2]
