After the 2026 municipal elections, the 23-year-old Michal Chaloupka of KDU-ČSL is to become mayor of the Brno-Líšeň district.

After the 2026 municipal elections, Michal Chaloupka of KDU-ČSL is to become mayor of the Brno district of Brno-Líšeň. At the age of 23, he would be the youngest district mayor in the history of Brno. The previous record was held by Martin Žák, who became mayor of Brno-Kníničky in 2006 at the age of 24.
The coalition for the 2026 to 2030 term was formed by five groupings: Noví lidovci, ODS and TOP 09 with independent candidates, Sousedé z Líšně, ANO 2011 and STAN. Together they hold 16 of 29 seats; at least 15 are needed for a majority. The outgoing district leadership under the mayor Břetislav Štefan won 12 seats in the election, the most of any grouping. The coalition agreement sets out the distribution of posts and responsibilities as well as the district's investment priorities.
Martin Příborský of ODS, Ondřej Zendulka for Sousedé z Líšně and Iva Kremitovská of ANO are to become deputy mayors. All four members of the leadership will hold full-time posts. The STAN leader Tereza Karafiátová is to be a councillor. Chaloupka has been a member of the Líšeň assembly since the age of nineteen and served on the finance committee. His grouping won five seats in 2026, up from two before. On the council he is to be responsible for finance, social and health matters, family policy, heritage protection and waste management.
Chaloupka said the coalition is not being formed against anyone and that he wants to continue ongoing projects and change the way of decision-making and communication with residents. The outgoing mayor Štefan said the procedure is not unlawful and that, in his view, voters wanted cooperation with the Christian Democrats to continue and STAN to be brought in.
