The mayor of the municipality of Srnojedy in the Pardubice area, Králíček, resigned on 30 September 2026, a week before the municipal elections; the deputy mayor, Juška, will run the agenda until new leadership is elected.

On 30 September 2026 Králíček resigned as mayor of the municipality of Srnojedy in the Pardubice area. He did not want to continue working at the municipal office or in the council [1][2]. The municipality has 780 inhabitants [1][2].
Reactions and circumstances
The former mayor did not answer his phone after resigning. Deputy mayor Juška declined to comment on the situation by phone and said that nothing significant had happened [1][2]. He will run the agenda until the new leadership of the municipality is elected [1][2].
Municipal elections
In the 2022 municipal elections, the Sdružení Alternativa group won in Srnojedy with six seats, and the Cesta Srnojedy group won three councillors [1][2]. Both groups are also standing in the 2026 elections; Králíček is not standing again [1][2].
The Pro Srnojedy group, which is taking part in the elections for the first time, described leaving without explanation as "very unfortunate" and said that responsibility thereby passes overnight to the deputy mayor, which complicates the situation also for the people who will be responsible for the further running of the municipality after the elections [1][2]. On Facebook, representatives of the group wrote: "In a small municipality, we should be able to hand over responsibility with respect and without unnecessary question marks. We are not rivals but above all neighbours." [1][2]
The group's lead candidate, Dominik Barták, who is also spokesperson of the Pardubice Region, said of the resignation: "Resigning as mayor shortly before the elections without giving a reason is odd, to say the least." [2]
