Černovická terasa is an industrial zone in the south-eastern part of Brno [1]. Traffic in the area is getting heavier as further plots are gradually built up for industry. At the start and end of factory shifts, queues of cars form in front of the junctions, driving along Řípská Street into the city or onto the motorway [1]. The site that the company Amazon tried unsuccessfully to use for a huge logistics centre more than ten years ago is now fully built up [1].
Planned exit from the D1 motorway
A new exit is to be built at kilometre 200 of the D1 motorway, which according to the daily Deník is meant to substantially relieve the overloaded Řípská Street [1]. The estimated cost of the construction is CZK 1.8 billion [1][2]. Road builders had originally planned to start construction in 2026 and finish in 2029; according to reports of 28 September 2026, the start of work is being postponed to spring [1][2].
The project will include a rebuild of the junction at kilometre 201 of the D1 and collector lanes between the two exits, that is, parallel lanes with a maximum permitted speed of 80 kilometres per hour [1][2]. The structure is to be prepared for a future widening of the D1 to six lanes in this section, and roundabouts will be built at both exits where they meet the access road. It will be the sixth Brno exit from the D1 between kilometres 190 and 203 [1][2].
The construction also includes the relocation of a class III road between Černovická terasa and Tuřany, alongside which a cycle path will be built. A cycle path to Tuřany is to link up with it [1][2].
