Václav Klaus is a former president of the Czech Republic.[1] The leader of Motoristé sobě, Petr Macinka, was for many years the spokesperson of the institute that Klaus founded, and according to Echo24 the movement has long been close to the Motoristé.[1] According to Blesk, Macinka worked with Klaus for seventeen years. Statements on the Motoristé

In May 2026 Klaus told the daily Novinky that he had advised the Motoristé not to enter the government and to concentrate on building the party. In the Sunday debate on Czech Television on 11 October 2026, Macinka said he fundamentally disagreed with this view, because in his opinion nationwide politics takes priority for a small party.[1] According to Blesk, Klaus had already said in an interview for iDNES.cz in October 2025 that the Motoristé should have started building the party and not pushed straight into government. [2] In March 2026, according to Parlamentní listy, Klaus said that Macinka had proved himself as foreign minister, which few people had expected. [2]

Václav Klaus voted in the municipal and Senate elections on Friday, 9 October 2026. [3]
