Tomáš Macura is a former mayor of the statutory city of Ostrava [1]. On 11 October 2026 he assessed for Deník the results of the municipal elections in Ostrava and the possible new coalitions [1]. In April 2026 he said he was leaving politics for good. [3]
According to the results from 10 October 2026, the ANO movement leads in the Ostrava election, but by a smaller margin than four years ago [2]. According to iDNES.cz, the srdcOVA coalition led by mayor Jan Dohnal won over 19 percent of the vote and four more councillors than before. Starostové for Ostrava had almost seventeen percent and eight more councillors, Motoristé just under eight percent, and five groupings made it onto the council. [4] Macura described the weakening of ANO, which won three seats fewer than in 2022, when he led its list, as the first since 2014 and part of a nationwide trend. [1] Macura added that ANO weakened in all the large cities except Pilsen and that the Czech Pirate Party, the SPD and the communists dropped out of the Ostrava council. [1]
He left the post of mayor in 2023 after leaving the ANO movement. [3]
