Těšínské divadlo is a theatre in Český Těšín. The building underwent a revitalization for which the Moravian-Silesian Region acted as investor. The theatre operates in a Czech-Polish environment, and the regional spokesperson Nikola Birklenová described the project as support for Czech-Polish cooperation.[1][2]

Revitalization of the building

The revitalization took eighteen months. It preserved the original architectural and artistic elements of the building and supplemented them with modern technology and new facilities for audiences and performers. The investment also included the construction of the Těšínské divadelní a kulturní centrum, intended for educational, community and creative activities. The project was supported from the National Recovery Plan. According to the region, it was one of the most significant cultural investments of recent years in the region.[1][2]

Award

The revitalization of the building won the main prize, the Grand Prix, in the Stavba Moravskoslezského kraje competition for 2025. The competition is announced every year by the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs (Svaz podnikatelů ve stavebnictví), the Czech Chamber of Authorised Engineers and Technicians, the Ostrava branch of the Obec architektů association and the Moravian-Silesian Region. Governor Josef Bělica (ANO) said that the award is feedback for the region that its investments stand up to comparison with the best projects in the region, also in expert assessment.[1][2]
