The director general of the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (ŘSD), Radek Mátl, said in his podcast that construction of the last section of the D6 motorway before Karlovy Vary, between Olšová Vrata and the city, will probably be postponed from 2026 to 2027. The reason is that landowners have challenged the legal force of the building permit because they disagree with the purchase price. According to Mátl, the appeal will delay construction by several months.[1]
Permit and contractor
The Dopravní a energetický stavební úřad issued a non-final building permit for this section in August. The building proceedings lasted over seven months and the decision runs to 65 pages. The contractor has already been selected: the tender was won, with a price of CZK 3.443 billion, by a consortium of EUROVIA CZ, MI Roads, Berger Bohemia and Stavby mostů, whose bid corresponded to 80% of the estimated CZK 4.3 billion.[1]
Parameters of the section
The eight-kilometre section from Olšová Vrata will bring a four-lane road to the regional capital. Roughly a third, about 2,500 metres west of Andělská Hora, is to be built as a motorway with a speed limit of 130 km/h; the rest will be a four-lane first-class road with a maximum speed of 90 km/h. According to the plans so far, completion was set for 2029.[1]
