The council group of TOP 09 and Starostové a nezávislí in Prague 3 agreed to look for a coalition partner although the coalition has a majority on the council.
The council group of TOP 09 and Starostové a nezávislí (STAN) in Prague 3 agreed on 12 October 2026 to look for a coalition partner, even though the coalition of TOP 09 and STAN has a majority on its own, with 18 seats on the 35-member council.[1][2][3] This was stated by the leader of the coalition and current mayor of the city district, Michal Vronský (TOP 09).[1]
Vronský said: "In the newly constituted council group of TOP 09 and Starostové we agreed that we will look for a coalition partner and that we will hold talks first with the coalition led by Edita Janečková." Janečková, a lawyer and director of the family and community centre Nová Trojka, led as an independent the joint candidate list of the Czech Pirate Party and Praha 3 Sobě.[1]
The coalition of TOP 09 and STAN, supported by Žižkov (nejen) sobě, won 45.2 percent of the votes in the municipal elections, 16.6 percentage points more than in 2022. The candidate list of the Pirates and Praha 3 Sobě finished second with six seats, ANO and ODS won four seats each and the Greens three.[1] After the 2022 elections the coalition of TOP 09 and STAN, then with 11 seats, formed a coalition with the Pirates, Praha 3 Sobě and the Greens, and Vronský became mayor.[1]
According to Blesk, Prague 3 is the second inner Prague city district where one grouping has won a majority; the other is Prague 7, where Praha 7 Sobě has had one for the fourth time.[1]
