Poprad is a town in Slovakia that news reports describe as the gateway to the High Tatras.[1]

Czech Airlines operated a direct air link between Prague and Poprad until 2012. Since Sunday 25 October 2026, Wizz Air has flown from Václav Havel Airport Prague to Poprad three times a week, on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. From January to mid-March it also sells tickets for Tuesdays. The flight takes over an hour and the carrier uses an Airbus A321neo with 239 seats. Return tickets started at CZK 934. According to Echo24, negotiations on opening the route lasted about a year and a half.[1][2]

Direct trains from RegioJet and Leo Express, and services of České dráhy together with Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, also run between Prague and Poprad. The journey takes about seven hours and the fare ranges from CZK 299 to more than CZK 1,000 one way, depending on how full the train is. According to the IDOS journey planner, direct buses mostly take around nine hours.[1][2]
