Petr Dvořák is a former Director General of Czech Television. In June 2023 the Czech Television Council elected a new Director General. [1]

In June 2025, under the government of Petr Fiala, the Ministry of Culture elected him chairman of the board of the Státní fond audiovize. [1][2] On 27 October 2026 the Minister of Culture, Oto Klempíř (for the Motoristé sobě), said that the ministry would dismiss Dvořák from this post. According to the minister, the two differ in their view of how the fund is managed, and Dvořák did not cooperate sufficiently in the search for savings. [1][2][3] Dvořák said that he acknowledges the dismissal and that the minister informed him of the step by telephone on the day of the dismissal. He criticised the ministry's procedure as hasty and undiscussed. [5] If the budget is not approved by the end of the year, the fund will, according to the minister, operate under a provisional budget and each month will be able to draw at most one twelfth of the funds from its 2026 budget. [4] The government did not approve the draft budget of the Státní fond audiovize for 2027. Minister Klempíř demanded that the fund's management cut the planned support for audiovisual production by roughly 400 million crowns, but the board insisted on the amount of 787.5 million crowns, which it approved in September in its short-term concept for next year.
