In September 2026 the Ministry of Agriculture prepared a package of compensation for farmers for losses caused by drought, expensive inputs and low commodity prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture is headed by Minister Martin Šebestyán. In September 2026 the ministry prepared a package of compensation measures for farmers, for which it intends to set aside roughly CZK 3.5 billion. It intends to submit the package to the government in October 2026.[1][2]
Compensation for farmers' losses
On 28 September 2026 in Brussels, Šebestyán said that this year's drought, high input prices and the fall in prices of some commodities are causing farmers in some parts of Czechia high losses in both crop and livestock production. Among the main problems he named fuel and fertiliser prices and the effects of drought; in some regions, he said, revenue losses reach tens of percent. He also mentioned a shortage of feed and a marked year-on-year fall in the prices of milk, pork and other commodities.[1][2]
Czechia received roughly EUR 10.7 million (CZK 260.5 million) from European funds for basic support. According to the minister, most of the money for compensation is to come from the state budget, approximately CZK 3.5 billion.[1][2]
