Statement on the president's absence from the elections

In October 2026 Jurečka commented on the fact that President Petr Pavel will not take part in the municipal elections because of a private trip abroad.[1][2] On Czech Television he agreed with Aleš Juchelka that if people are to take an interest in public affairs and go to vote, politicians should set them an example.[1]

Jurečka appealed to the president to come to the polls on Friday.[1] On his absence he said: "For such high-ranking politicians this is a mistake."[1][3]
