On Monday 26 October 2026, at an awards ceremony in Prague, the Obec architektů announced the results of the Grand Prix Architektů competition. The main prize, the National Architecture Award, went to the Horácká multifunkční aréna in Jihlava, designed by Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof of the studio Chybík + Krištof. The jury selected 50 projects for a shortlist, and the authors of buildings in the categories of new build, reconstruction, interior, family house and sustainable building also received awards. The jury was led by the architect Sophie Berthelier of France.[1][2][3]

The arena serves as the home stadium of the ice hockey club HC Dukla Jihlava and as a cultural and community centre. Construction, costing 1.9 billion koruna excluding VAT, was symbolically launched in July 2023. The city of Jihlava took over the arena in October 2025, and it replaced a stadium from the 1950s. The operation is divided into two buildings, an elliptical hall and a corner building with accommodation, a restaurant, a fan merchandise shop and a gym. On the top floor the two buildings are linked by a walkway leading to the roof, with a publicly accessible running track. The arena is also among the buildings nominated for this year's Building of the Year.[1][2][3]

The award in the new build category went to the Vokovická kindergarten in Prague 6, and in the reconstruction category to the headquarters and showroom of the Janošík company in Valašské Příkazy. The award for landscape architecture went to the project reviving the Radbuza riverbank in Plzeň, for interior to the exhibition "Město v čase" of the Prague City Museum, and for sustainable building to the reconstruction of Žitný mlýn in Boršov nad Vltavou. In the urbanism category Praha-Bubny station won. Honourable mentions went to the state castle and chateau in Bečov nad Teplou, the reconstruction of the town hall in Přerov, and the park and surroundings of the Roškotovo divadlo in Ústí nad Orlicí.[1][3]

The competition was founded in 1993 and evaluates the best architectural works completed in the past year. The authors of the winning building received a large blue cube as a trophy. In the previous year the main prize went to the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Nesvačilka near Brno, designed by Jan Říčný.[1][2][3]
