Bečov nad Teplou lies in the Karlovy Vary area; in September 2026 the structural stabilisation of road II/230 near the town was completed.

Bečov nad Teplou lies in the Karlovy Vary area. The castle in Bečov houses the reliquary of St Maurus, which police investigators found in November 1985 under the floor of the castle chapel and whose restoration began in 1999. [2] Road II/230 runs past it; according to road maintainers, its section between Bečov nad Teplou and Mnichov, or Mariánské Lázně, had slipped in several places.[1]
From March to September 2026, the Karlovy Vary Region road administration and maintenance authority (Krajská správa a údržba silnic Karlovarského kraje) carried out structural stabilisation there for the Karlovy Vary Region. The stability of the road body is now secured by reinforced-concrete retaining walls 156 metres long founded on micropiles; the carriageway has new structural layers and drainage. The construction cost 22.011 million crowns and was paid entirely by the Karlovy Vary Region. Drivers pass through the section without traffic restrictions.[1] Since September 2026 there have been seven marked running and hiking loops around the town with a total length of over 80 kilometres, marked out by Tělovýchovná jednota Slavoj Bečov nad Teplou; the project was supported by Nadace ČEZ with 230,000 crowns, the Místní akční skupina Kraj živých vod with 30,000 and the town with 20,000 crowns.
