In the Louny Senate district the seat is being decided only in a second round, after the first round on 9 and 10 October 2026. According to iDNES.cz, the incumbent senator Ivo Trešl, who is defending his seat, led.[1]
Trešl said he counts on the support of two candidates who did not succeed in the first round, Leo Steiner (JsmePRO!) and Ivana Hluštíková, who ran under the Greens + Czech Pirate Party label. According to him, they are to urge their voters to consider supporting him, and they also offered help in the campaign.[2]
In the second round Trešl, a doctor by profession, wants to focus on three topics: accessible health care and the operation of the two hospitals in the region, keeping young people in the region, and the issue of drought with falling groundwater levels, which, in his words, concerns mainly the Rakovník area and part of the Žatec area.[1]
Trešl said he had expected a significantly closer result and a better showing from Leo Steiner. In 2020 Trešl won the second round with 58.39 percent of the votes.[2]
