Bus line 131 of the Prague Public Transit Company last ran on Friday 30 October 2026. It connected Hradčanská, U Matěje and Bořislavka and, according to Pražský patriot, had been part of Hanspaulka for decades. From 31 October, trolleybuses of line 51 run fully on this route.[1]
Farewell
The Prague 6 borough, in cooperation with the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP), organised an afternoon farewell on the day of the last service. Between 14:00 and 18:00, three historic buses ran at 20-minute intervals on additional journeys of the line: Škoda 706 RTO, Karosa B951E and Irisbus Citybus. Rides were free until the capacity of the vehicle was reached. Ondřej Matěj Hrubeš (ODS), the Prague 6 councillor for transport, said that the line had become a symbol of Hanspaulka and Bubeneč and that they did not want it to disappear quietly.[1]
History of the line
According to DPP transport director Jan Barchánek, the company began operating the line in June 1963 on the route Revoluční (Dlouhá třída) – Sibiřské náměstí – Zelená – U Matěje. From the end of February 1993 it ran roughly along its current route. Because of the hilly terrain with steep climbs, it was among the first candidates for electrification and conversion into a trolleybus line.[1]
Replacement
According to iDNES.cz, from 2 November passengers of lines 131 and 176 will be definitively taken over by trolleybus lines 51 and 53, which until now ran in parallel with the buses. Since 17 October trolleybuses had handled all weekend service, and buses remained only on weekdays.[2] See also Line 51.
