The D2 motorway joins the D1 motorway in Brno at the Brno-jih grade-separated interchange. The interchange is being rebuilt, with the cloverleaf layout changing into a two-leaf one and direct and semi-direct ramps being created between the two motorways.[1][2] From 3 October 2026, builders are to switch traffic onto the new ramp from the D1 from Prague to the D2 towards Bratislava. [1] From 3 October to 28 November 2026 the exit from the D2 from Bratislava to the D1 towards Ostrava is closed.[1][2]

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic recommends that lorries leave the D2 at the Břeclav exit and continue along road I/55 to the D55 motorway.[1][2]

The detour from the D2 runs along Hněvkovského, Černovická and Ostravská streets and joins the D1 at exit 203 Brno-východ. [1]
