After the municipal elections in October 2026, negotiations on a new coalition began in Jablonec nad Nisou. According to Novinky.cz, talks were under way shortly before the vote count ended, and on Sunday, 11 October, the elected representatives of various parties met.[1] The elections in the city were won by the ANO movement, with Starostové for the Liberec Region second. The other seats went to the Czech Pirate Party and independents (3), Společně pro Jablonec (3), SPD (2) and Spolu se sportovci – Živý Jablonec (2).[1]
Positions of the parties
The ANO leader Milan Kroupa said that the movement has an idea of its partners but does not want to enter a coalition with the Společně pro Jablonec grouping. According to him, the movement is seeking the post of mayor, the education portfolio and probably the management of the city.[1] Starostové for the Liberec Region want to negotiate with all the represented groupings; the grouping's spokeswoman said they are interested in the post of mayor and the post of deputy mayor for the humanitarian area. The ODS leader Miloš Vele said ODS is ready to negotiate and, in his view, could form a coalition with any grouping.[1]
