Chožov is a municipality in the Louny area, lying northeast of the town of Louny. Mayor Jaroslav Koubek (Association of Independent Candidates) said that the municipality has roughly 440 voters.[1] Koubek has been a member of the council for 22 years and has led the municipality for eight years. [5] Administratively the village of Třtěň belongs to Chožov.[2]

The municipality contains the former Hüttich farmstead, a protected cultural monument. It is a large rural farmstead from the mid-18th century. [5] The farmstead dates from the mid-18th century. [5] According to the mayor it is in poor condition, the roof leaks, windows are missing and there is no water connection or sewerage.[1][2] Shortly before the municipal elections, according to iDNES.cz, the municipality's population grew by 33 people who registered permanent residence in the dilapidated farmstead in the local part Třtěň; all eight candidates of the Lepší venkov group had permanent residence at this address. [2]

In the municipal elections on 9 and 10 October 2026, the Association of Independent Candidates of Mayor Koubek won six seats in Chožov. The Lepší venkov group remained without a seat.[1][2] Mayor Koubek said that the newly registered voters did not turn up to vote, and he believes they were put off by media interest and the presence of police officers. [2] Shortly before the elections 33 new residents registered for permanent residence at the farmstead's address, but none of them came to vote. [2] The police did not comment on whether the charges concern Chožov specifically. [2] On 29 October 2026 the police announced that they had charged three men with obstructing the preparation and conduct of elections and referendums; according to them, they tried to influence the municipal elections in the Louny area by promising people money for changing their permanent residence and for voting according to pre-agreed instructions. According to the police, no paid voting took place, and the accused face up to three years in prison. According to Seznam Zprávy, the case concerns Chožov. [1] The council has nine members and turnout in the municipality rose by almost ten percentage points compared with the previous elections to more than 60 percent. [3]

Because of shooting training at the Vršovice firing range near Louny, a closure of the road between Chožov and Nečichy was planned from 5 October 2026, always Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the restriction was to apply also in the following two weeks and on 29 October. [4]

The police did not comment on whether it concerns Chožov. [2]
