Chlumec nad Cidlinou is located in the Hradec Králové region. The D11 motorway runs past the town, with a grade-separated interchange called Chlumec nad Cidlinou. The D11 motorway connects Prague with Jaroměř; construction began in 1978 [1][2].

The section between the 55th and 62nd kilometre near Chlumec nad Cidlinou was built by the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic twenty years ago, according to its regional spokesperson. A month-long repair costing 125 million koruna was completed on 4 October 2026, and the section has been fully passable without restrictions ever since. The concrete road surface was repaired by the company Strabag SIS using blacktopping technology in four variants as a pilot project. Road workers milled off the damaged concrete layer and, after cleaning the subgrade, replaced it with an asphalt surface. [4] According to the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic, the project is meant to test various structural compositions for road repairs. [3] The exit and entry ramps at the Chlumec nad Cidlinou interchange were also repaired [1][2]. The work also included renewing the horizontal road markings and adjusting the telematics system, and the road studs were removed from the surface. [3]

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic is building the last two sections of the D11 motorway, from Jaroměř to Trutnov and from Trutnov to the border, with everything expected to be completed in 2029. [4]

Since August 2026, the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic has been repairing a fourteen-kilometre section of the D11 between Poděbrady and Sadská in the direction of Prague. The work, costing 757 million koruna excluding VAT, is expected to be completed in October 2026. [4]
