Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS) is a former finance minister.[2][3]

State budget debate

In Czech Television's Nedělní debata (Sunday Debate) on 27 September 2026, Stanjura clashed with the current finance minister Alena Schillerová (ANO). According to ČT24, he said that raising some of the taxes Schillerová spoke of would not bring significant savings.[1] He described the intention of higher taxation of owners of investment property as unclear.[2]

According to Lidovky.cz, Schillerová accused him of manipulating the budget during his time in office, which Stanjura rejected. He described the reduction of the planned deficit from 389 to 386 billion crowns as a mere trick and said that the trend is what matters. On the government's pledge to keep the deficit below three per cent of gross domestic product, he remarked that the actual deficit stands at 3.5 per cent. Schillerová replied that the government had used the European escape clause.[2]

Contracts of a Ministry of Finance adviser

Seznam Zprávy state that between 2022 and 2025 the Ministry of Finance concluded two contracts and five amendments with an adviser of Stanjura, with a total value of five million crowns, without a tender procedure. According to experts from Transparency International and Frank Bold Advokáti, the law may have been violated. The Úřad pro ochranu hospodářské soutěže will not open administrative proceedings because the complainant did not respond to a call to supplement the information. Deputy chair of the office Markéta Dlouhá at the same time said that the mere sum of the contract values does not have to mean a violation of the law, and did not rule out opening proceedings if new facts come to light.[3]
