Withdrawal of the application for an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the planned artificial intelligence data center in Ralsko in the Česká Lípa district took place on 5 October 2026. This fact emerged from data in the EIA information system, which was pointed out by the server iRozhlas.cz [1][2].

Investor's Response

The company's executive, Petr Šebeček, told Czech Radio Liberec that they plan to subject the project to further analysis in order to assess how to proceed [1][2].

Objections from the Region and Municipality

The Liberec Region, which demanded that a more detailed so-called large-scale EIA be prepared for this project, raised objections against the construction of the data center [1][2]. The town of Ralsko also raised objections. Mayor Miloslav Tůma (ANO) stated that they do not have detailed information about the plan because the investor did not present it to them [1][2].

Parameters of the Project

According to data in the EIA information system, the company Ralsko AI Campus plans to build six data blocks on a plot of land of approximately 6.5 hectares in the Kuřívody area, with a reserved grid capacity of 86 megawatts [1][2]. This consumption is compared to that of a city the size of Liberec or Ústí nad Labem [1][2]. For comparison, the data center of České Radiokomunikace in Zbraslav, Prague, is mentioned, which has a secured capacity of 26 megawatts, with the company having applied for an additional 100 megawatts [1][2].

According to the originally submitted application, the investor planned to build on a brownfield site in Kuřívody. The buildings were to cover an area of almost 1.6 hectares and reach a height of nearly 15 meters [1][2]. In case of a power outage, 48 backup diesel generators with a total output of 115.3 megawatts were planned, along with tanks holding approximately 245 tons of diesel fuel [1][2].
