Meta Platforms is an American internet company. It operates the social networks Facebook and Instagram and the messaging platform WhatsApp.[1][3]
Financial results
For the third quarter of 2026 the company reported year-on-year revenue growth of 26 percent to 64.60 billion dollars, roughly 1.4 trillion crowns, and beat estimates. It also announced that it will issue a new class of shares intended to help finance costly investment in artificial intelligence.[1][3]
Content disputes
In May 2026 leading publishing companies in the United States started legal action against Meta. They claim that the firm used their novels, textbooks and scientific articles without permission to train artificial intelligence, and they demand financial compensation of an unspecified amount. Meta stated that it would defend itself vigorously against this step.[1][3]
On 22 October 2026 four Czech publishers' associations pointed to new Meta rules taking effect on 30 October 2026 and called on the European Commission to examine them. According to the associations, the rules allow automated collection of content from publishers' websites without a licence fee.[1][2][3]
