A statue of the white shepherd dog Fin, funded with contributions from 113 people, was unveiled in the Lužánky park in Brno on 7 October 2026.
On the afternoon of Wednesday 7 October 2026, a statue of the white shepherd dog Fin, a dog popular among visitors to the park, was unveiled in the Lužánky park in Brno. According to Deník, Fin died in 2025. The statue stands near the statue of Svantovít by the building of the Ponava Café at the edge of the park [1][2].
A total of 113 supporters of the dog contributed to the statue. The remaining costs were covered by grants from the South Moravian Region and the city of Brno and by a sponsorship gift from Ponava Café [1][2]. The fundraising was started by Fin's owner, who, according to Deník, looked after the creation of the statue as project manager [1][2].
The statue was created by the sculptor Jiří Pec in cooperation with the company Švec beton. He captured the dog's likeness by 3D scanning, during which, according to Pec, Fin managed to sit motionless for half an hour. Because the park is a protected heritage site, the statue can be taken apart [1][2].
The pedestal vibrates and serves as a place for visitors to rest, and it also holds a bowl of water for dogs. An interactive sound installation with recordings of Fin himself is built into the pedestal. The concept of the sound interactivity was created by the musician Tomáš Vtípil, and it was produced by Zahrady soutoku. The sound gallery is to be launched on 22 May 2027 at the PonavaFest festival [1][2]. The Czech-Austrian free-jazz group Divergent Forms Ensemble played at the unveiling [1].
