The Prague Public Transit Company announced that from 11 October to 18 December 2026 tram service will be suspended on the section from Nákladové nádraží Žižkov to Ohrada. The reason is the final stage of the modernisation of the tram track on Jana Želivského Street, which concerns its northern section. The closure begins around midnight between 10 and 11 October.[1]
The works also include the rebuilding of the second part of the track crossing at the intersection of Jana Želivského and Olšanská streets, and they will connect the new line under construction to Jarov to the existing network. According to the transit company, the project is the last long-term action this year on the Prague tram network.[1]
The closure affects nine tram lines, seven daytime and two night lines. Seven lines will run on changed routes, and lines 16 and 34 are cancelled. Lines 30, 37 and 90 are introduced from Spojovací to Kobylisy, Ďáblice or Lehovec. Replacement bus service runs on the route Nákladové nádraží Žižkov, Biskupcova, Ohrada, Vozovna Žižkov as line X9 by day and lines X95 and X98 at night. On Jana Želivského Street car traffic will remain in one lane in each direction.[1]
