Tomáš Rec is a Liberec politician of the ANO 2011 movement, the leader of its list in the 2026 municipal elections in Liberec and a candidate for mayor.[1][2]

Career

Rec said he has worked in the public sector for more than twelve years, including at Liberec city hall, at several ministries and at the Státní fond životního prostředí. At the time of the elections he held a managerial position at the Centrum pro regionální rozvoj, which administers projects funded from European funds.[1] He is new to politics. By his own account, he was elected head of ANO in Liberec by a majority of members in spring 2026 and earlier served on the environment commission in Vratislavice.[1]

2026 elections

In the new 39-seat council, ANO has eight councillors. According to Deník, a coalition was formed by the winning Starostové pro Liberecký kraj with the movement Lepší Liberec and the grouping Liberec otevřený lidem together with the Czech Pirate Party, which hold 31 votes between them. ANO will thus be in opposition for the first time in twelve years.[2] Rec said ANO had talked about a coalition with several groupings but no agreement was reached, and that working in opposition will be hard.[2]
