Tomáš Kopečný is a former government commissioner for the reconstruction of Ukraine.[1] In September 2026 he spoke at a demonstration on Old Town Square in Prague. He said there: "Those who are prepared are not surprised." He also criticised the current government, saying in his view it is not doing enough for the country's security and resilience, and called on people to take part in the municipal elections.[1] Representatives of the Million Moments for Democracy association, the organisation Reporters Without Borders and the singer-songwriter Jaroslav Hutka also spoke at the demonstration. [1] During his appearance Hutka sang his song Havlíčku Havle and the audience sang along. [1] The speakers also included the former dissident Miloš Rejchrt and the Slovak political scientist Hana Kubátová. [1] Rejchrt is an evangelical pastor and Kubátová studies non-democratic regimes. [1] Kopečný said in his speech that what awaits Czechia in the coming months and years will, in his view, be worse than the period since the start of Russian aggression. [1] He added that people must not let themselves be intimidated and should stay calm and prepare. [1]
