His appointment as Archbishop of Prague was announced by the Vatican on 2 February 2026. Pope Leo XIV appointed him as successor to Jan Graubner.[3][4] Přibyl kept his episcopal motto "Pax vobis" (Peace be with you).[4] He was installed on 25 April 2026 during a service in St Vitus Cathedral, where Graubner handed him the pastoral staff.
