On 15 October 2026, the Ministry of Finance issued three-month bonds worth 44.6 billion crowns in the second issue of bonds for citizens. New purchases came to 17.5 billion crowns; the remaining 27.1 billion crowns were reinvestments from the first issue in July. It reported this in a press release.[1][2]

Terms of the issue

The ministry offered the three-month Flexi Bond with a yield of 3.75 percent a year. Yield from government bonds is exempt from tax. The bonds were bought by 49,724 people with an average age of 57.2 years. Holders can request payout of the invested money including the yield by 11 January, otherwise it is automatically reinvested in the third issue. The ministry is to publish the yield for the next period in December.[1][2]

First issue and plans

In the first issue in summer 2026, the ministry offered, besides the three-month bonds, two types of five-year bonds, and people bought them for a total of 74 billion crowns, of which 27.6 billion were three-month bonds. Finance Minister Alena Schillerová (ANO) said that almost all holders of the first Flexi Bonds kept them and reinvested. The ministry plans the subscription period of the third issue for the pre-Christmas period and is again to offer all three types of bonds in it.[1][2]

Earlier issues

The ministry already issued the Republic Bonds in 2018 to 2021, when Schillerová was Minister of Finance. Over 13 subscription periods, people bought bonds worth 80.1 billion crowns. Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS), who held that office from 2021 to 2025, stopped the issuance, explaining that it cost the state more than bonds sold to institutional investors.[1][2]
