Reneso ČR is a Czech company whose founder and chief executive is Hugo Repáň. It processes used tobacco and nicotine refills and filters into a product called Reneso Fibers, intended for asphalt mixes.[1]
The line on the premises of the company ProfiOdpady in Hořín near Mělník was put into operation by Reneso ČR and Philip Morris ČR. According to Repáň it is the second facility of its kind in the world; the same technology has operated in Slovakia for several years, and refills returned by Czech consumers have so far also been shipped there. The line shreds the refills, removes metal parts and granulates the remaining material. The fibres replace cellulose fibres in asphalt and, according to Repáň, reduced rutting by up to ten percent.[1]
The Hořín facility can process up to five tonnes of refills per month. The technology is built into a shipping container, so it can be manufactured and exported elsewhere. In Slovakia the material was used, for example, on road sections in Malinovo, Kováčová and Žiar nad Hronom; in Czechia it is to appear in an asphalt mix for the first time in the first half of 2027. According to iDNES.cz, one tonne of Reneso Fibers is enough for a road about 200 metres long.[1][2]
