A local referendum in the Praha-Libuš city district is to be held on the days of the elections, 9 and 10 October 2026, on consent to the planned revitalisation of the Písnice housing estate. The city district announced this on its website. [1]
The referendum question
The Libuš council decided to ask residents whether they agree with a revitalisation in the form set out by the zoning decision of the building authority of Prague 12, which is not yet final. [1][2] The councillors also instructed the city district to push for meetings between the new owners and residents, and set up a working group for that purpose. [1][2]
Owners and the project
This year the estate was bought from CIB Group, the previous operator of rental housing, by the groups SATPO and WOOD & Company. The new owners also took over the revitalisation project, which includes new construction. [1][2] According to the plan, the existing flats are to be repaired and then sold off, which tenants fear. [1][2]
Positions
The project is criticised by the association Naše Písnice. In its view it is aimed mainly at new buildings near the planned Line D metro station, not at the modernisation of the panel buildings and public spaces. [1][2] The association's chairman wrote on Facebook that a majority "no" in a valid and binding referendum would give the future municipal government a strong mandate to reconsider cooperation with the investor. [1][2]
The referendum is held together with the municipal and Senate elections, in which Prague elects the councils of city districts, the 65-member assembly of the Capital City of Prague and senators in three constituencies. [1][2]
