Radek Popelka is first deputy mayor of Jihlava and leader of the Jihlava ANO 2011 movement.[1] In the 2022 municipal elections the movement won with 14 seats, but Petr Ryška of ODS became mayor on the basis of a coalition of ODS and KDU-ČSL.[1]
In the municipal elections on 9 and 10 October 2026 the ANO 2011 movement won ten of 37 seats and finished second behind Tým Pro Jihlavu, which won 16 seats.[2] According to Popelka, ANO won over 23 percent of the vote, and he had therefore expected a closer contest with the winning list. [4] Popelka said the movement is willing to talk with anyone who will talk with it and that it does not want to seek the post of mayor, which in his view should be held by a representative of the winning grouping.[2] Popelka also said that ANO has the ambition to remain in the coalition and to seek it in its current composition. [4]
Among projects that Popelka described as close to him are the mining village on Šacberk hill and the Honzík lookout tower.[2]
Popelka was born in 1970; in the city administration he is responsible for technical services and social affairs, and he previously worked as a project designer. [3]
