German Chancellor Friedrich Merz received Czech President Petr Pavel in Berlin on 21 October 2026. In the Chancellery building they discussed Czech-German relations and foreign and security policy.[1][2]

Pavel was in Berlin on a two-day working visit. A joint press conference was not on the programme; the president planned to make a statement for Czech journalists. In the evening he was to take part in a round table of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), and on Thursday 22 October 2026 he was to speak at the Berlin Global Dialogue conference. The conference deals with the connections between politics, economics and geopolitics. [1][1][2]

Pavel last visited Berlin in July 2025, when he met Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. After that meeting Pavel said that the above-standard relations with Germany had been confirmed. [1][1][2]

Pavel regularly takes part in the Munich Security Conference, held every year in February in Munich. [1]
