In Brno, a civic initiative has launched a petition against the involvement of ODS in the city coalition after the 2026 municipal elections. It is also preparing a protest rally. According to Seznam Zprávy, the initiative is called Brno bez korupce, and about 300 people had signed the petition at that time.[1][2]

The initiative's objections

The organisers point out that the election result makes it possible to form the city leadership without ANO and without ODS. According to their statement, they are disappointed that, on developments so far, the winning Christian Democrats and STAN are not using this option and are negotiating a coalition with ODS. The initiative criticises the record of ODS, which for eight years had Markéta Vaňková as mayor with Robert Kerndl as deputy, and mentions the construction of a multifunctional hall, the setting of transport policy and a plan to build a cable car. It calls for a transparent procedure in forming the coalition, respect for the electoral mandate and distance from structures associated in the past with scandals.[1]

Reactions among the Greens

The Zelené Brno, which won almost nine percent of the vote and six seats in the citywide ballot, are also heading into talks on a broad coalition. According to Seznam Zprávy, they succeeded partly thanks to their criticism of ODS and ANO. Some members and supporters now reproach them for jointly running the city with ODS. The Greens' leader Natálie Vencovská described the critical reactions as the voices of individuals and said she is discussing the situation with the party's national leadership. Supporters were also angered by a photograph of the head of Brno ODS, Robert Kerndl, who went to the coalition talks with other representatives of ODS and TOP 09. Vencovská said she appreciated his absence from the Tuesday talks.[2]
