Pelhřimov town hall will be run after the 2026 municipal elections by a coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL and the Společně pro Pelhřimov group. According to Mayor Ladislav Med (ODS), the coalition has 14 of the 21 councillors. He announced the result of the post-election talks on 23 October 2026.[1][2]
Composition of the leadership
Med will remain mayor even though he was elected a senator in 2026. The remuneration of a mayor who is elected a deputy or senator is reduced to 40 percent, which, according to Med, makes it possible to increase the number of full-time deputy mayors from two to three. Karel Kratochvíl (KDU-ČSL) is to be first deputy mayor, followed by Zdeněk Jaroš (Společně pro Pelhřimov) and Filip Hron (ODS), who will be responsible for legislation and investment. Kratochvíl and Jaroš were also deputy mayors in the previous term. The city council has seven members.[1][2]
Election result
ODS won six seats on the town council, ANO and KDU-ČSL five each, Společně pro Pelhřimov three and My Pelhřimáci two. KDU-ČSL won more than 20 percent of the vote, compared with 13.7 percent four years earlier. Společně pro Pelhřimov is a group of ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, which also shared in running the town over the previous four years. ANO, which won the 2022 election, remains in opposition. The inaugural meeting of the council is to take place on 5 November 2026.[1][2]
