The Liberal Institute is a Czech organization led, as of October 2026, by director Martin Pánek. In a press release published by the Czech News Agency, he reported on the economic freedom ranking compiled by Canada's Fraser Institute.[1]
According to Pánek, the Czech Republic improved in four of the five indicators, with the size of government remaining its weakest area, ranking 110th. The institute states that higher economic freedom is associated with greater prosperity, greater civil liberties, and longer life expectancy. According to the institute, two percent of people live in extreme poverty in the freest quarter of countries, compared with 41 percent in the least free quarter.[1]
