Kytín is a municipality in the Central Bohemian Region, near which the D4 motorway runs from Prague towards South Bohemia. The municipality lies close to the 21st kilometre of this motorway, where a traffic accident took place on 24 September 2026, bringing emergency services to the scene and leading to a temporary closure of the road.[3]*

Accident on the D4 motorway

On 24 September 2026, at about 15:30, a passenger car hit the crash barriers at the 21st kilometre of the D4 towards Prague and ended up on its roof.[3] According to emergency service spokeswoman Monika Nováková, one person died at the scene, another suffered a serious injury and was flown by helicopter to the Central Military Hospital in Prague, and a third casualty was to be taken to Motol University Hospital.[1][2][3]

Closure and traffic

As a result of the accident the motorway had to be closed, which led to a tailback.[3] According to the Road and Motorway Directorate, the section of the D4 towards Prague was reopened at about 21:40 the same day.[1][2]
