Kbelská is a street in Prague, a 3.9 km section of which underwent extensive reconstruction in 2026. The street is part of the grade-separated interchange of Kbelská and the D8 motorway, which is linked by entry and exit ramps, for example the exit to Veselská street.[1][2]
The general reconstruction took place in summer 2026 in two stages and lasted 45 days. The existing asphalt layers, 20–24 centimetres thick, were milled off and approximately 45,000 tonnes of new asphalt mixes were laid. At the same time the crash barriers were replaced, the subbase was rehabilitated with geogrid reinforcement and heavy class F900 sewer covers were installed. The repair cost approximately 600 million korunas.[1]
The final, third stage began on 12 October 2026 and includes renewal of the asphalt surfaces of the interchange with the D8 motorway, repair of sewer inlets and manholes, and height adjustment of utility network elements. The exit ramp to Veselská street is closed until 23 October; the second part of the stage is to follow from 24 October. According to TSK, the whole section is to be put into operation by 30 November.[1][2]
