Jakub Navařík is a Přerov city councillor and a candidate in the 2026 Senate elections in district No. 63 Přerov, where he was jointly nominated by ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and STAN [1][2].
In the first round he received 38 percent of the vote and advanced to the second round against the mayor and member of parliament Petr Vrána (ANO), who received 37 percent [2]. The district comprises 103 municipalities [1]. The remaining two candidates, regional councillor Dan Chromec (SPD) and Marek Obrtel (Česká strana národně sociální), received 15 and 9 percent of the vote. [2] The incumbent senator Jitka Seitlová (KDU-ČSL) did not run in this election. [5] According to more precise results, Navařík received 38.54 percent of the vote and Vrána 37.62 percent; turnout was 41.59 percent and four people ran. [5]
Navařík described it as his advantage that he is the only opposition candidate, and said that in his view a senator should work full time and not hold multiple offices [1]. According to iDNES.cz, his campaign team consists exclusively of women, and before the second round he wants to run a positive campaign, not attack his opponent and approach both unsuccessful candidates, although he does not expect much support from them [3]. He described the chances of winning as even [3].
Czech Television prepared a debate between Navařík and Vrána before the second round [4].
