Petr Vrána is the mayor of Přerov and a member of parliament for the ANO 2011 movement [1][2]. He is running in the 2026 Senate elections in district no. 63 Přerov [1][3].

In the first round he received 37 percent of the votes, according to Hanácká Drbna, and advanced to the second round together with Přerov city councillor Jakub Navařík, who received 38 percent [2]. He had already sought a Senate seat in 2020, when he gave up his seat in the Chamber of Deputies to do so; in the second round he lost to Jitka Seitlová of KDU-ČSL [1]. This time he will not resign his parliamentary seat before the vote; if elected senator, it would lapse automatically [1].

Vrána described his opponent as a representative of a broad coalition of parties and used the term “National Front” for it; in his view, mobilising voters will be decisive in the second round [1][4]. According to iDNES.cz, he does not want to change his strategy before the second round, intends to continue personal contact with voters and expects a lower turnout [4].

In the October 2026 elections to the Přerov city council, the ANO 2011 movement won 16 of 35 seats and, according to iDNES.cz, is leading the post-election talks [5]. Czech Television prepared a debate between Vrána and Navařík ahead of the second round of the Senate elections [3].
