Holešovická tržnice in Prague is operated by the municipal company Výstaviště Praha, which took over the site in 2022.[1] Hall 18 was previously occupied by Showpark, the operator of a brothel, which was in litigation with the city over the validity of its lease and left the premises in January 2026 after a bailiff ordered the eviction.[1]

Planned reconstruction of Hall 18

According to the operator, most of the hall's space is difficult to rent out due to its technical condition, occupancy approval, and fire safety issues, which means partial repairs would not be worthwhile. For technical reasons, such as the interconnected heating and ventilation systems, the entire hall reportedly needs to be renovated at once.[1][2]

Prague city councillors have included the reconstruction of the hall in their investment plan. The estimated budget for the project documentation and construction work is around CZK 260 million excluding VAT, and the reconstruction is expected to take until 2032.[1] Councillor Adam Zábranský (Czech Pirate Party) said that if the project is included in next year's budget, the documentation would be prepared next year.[1][2] The hall could house offices, while a municipal police station is to remain there.[1] According to an economic study, renting out the renovated hall should bring in roughly CZK 12 million a year, compared with about CZK 2.5 million now.[1][2]
