[1][3]*
Action Plan to 2030
After the talks, Babiš highlighted the newly negotiated action plan between the two countries for strategic bilateral and EU-level cooperation through 2030. He called it a milestone in relations and said he wanted to translate it into concrete projects. [1][2] The document, published by the Italian government office, envisages coordinating positions within the EU, NATO and other international institutions, including on security, migration, trade and energy issues. In it, the Czech Republic commits to sending a military attaché to Rome, and plans also include a Czech-Italian defence industry day and a business mission to Italy focused on the defence industry in 2027. Evaluation of the memorandum's implementation is to be carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs every two years. [1]
Exhibition and Topics of Discussion
The two countries agreed to jointly organize an exhibition on Pompeii and Herculaneum in 2028. [1][2] According to ČTK, Meloni said the talks covered, besides European affairs, energy, the defence industry, infrastructure and migration. Babiš said of her: "I consider Giorgia a great European leader." Meloni praised Babiš's pragmatism and described the exchange of action plans as a roadmap for the coming months and years. [1][2]
The talks were to continue over a working dinner at Kramář's Villa. According to a press release from the Office of the Government, trade between the Czech Republic and Italy reached a record 18.3 billion euros in 2025. Meloni last visited Prague in spring 2023; she met with Babiš in Rome in February this year. [1][3]
