On Thursday, 1 October 2026, at 10:39, a car collided with a cyclist on Revoluční Street in Třinec. According to police spokesman Jan Segsulka, the driver was travelling from Lidická Street while the cyclist was moving in the opposite direction.[1][2] The driver was driving a Kia Sportage.[2]
Emergency medical services treated the cyclist at the scene, and a helicopter transported him to the trauma centre at University Hospital Ostrava. He died there.[1][2] A breath test for alcohol was negative for the driver.[2]
Investigators in Třinec are looking into the circumstances of the accident.[2]
