Dynín is a municipality in the České Budějovice area of the South Bohemian Region.[1] A photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 36.73 MWp has been built on its territory; it covers roughly fifty hectares and has 51,636 modules.[1][2] The panels turn to follow the sun. According to its operators, it is the first plant of this size with tracking technology in Czechia and the third-largest solar power plant in the country.[1][2] The plant stands by the D3 motorway, whereas the largest photovoltaic plant in Czechia, commissioned in Ralsko in the Česká Lípa area in 2010, has an output of almost 56 megawatts.[3] Annual production is estimated at 47.2 GWh, which corresponds to the average consumption of more than 15,000 households.[1] According to ČT24, the electricity is to go to a company from the automotive industry.[2] The buyer is the company Benteler, which has committed itself under a long-term PPA contract to take the electricity for ten years.[3]

According to the municipal leadership, a similar project had been prepared since 2009 but was not completed.[1] A smaller photovoltaic plant is already operating on the municipality's territory. The municipality is still negotiating with the investor on the conditions under which the new plant could serve residents.[1]
