Dopravní podnik Ostrava operates public transport in Ostrava. In October 2026 its CEO was Daniel Morys and its spokesperson was Tereza Šnoblová. The company employs approximately 90 fare control staff, roughly half of whom are ticket inspectors and half transport assistants. The assistants do not issue fines; they keep order, provide information and can help passengers buy tickets. According to the company, they have been active in Ostrava's public transport for more than eight years and also work during regular shifts.[1]
On the night of Friday 2 to Saturday 3 October 2026, a joint inspection involving eleven transport assistants and six municipal police officers was carried out on lines in Moravská Ostrava and Vítkovice, focusing mainly on the section between the Krajský úřad, Elektra and Dolní Vítkovice stops. They checked more than 1,500 people on 65 services. More than 200 passengers had to leave the vehicle for violating the conditions of carriage, most often for lacking a valid ticket, and in more than ten cases for disruptive behaviour under the influence of alcohol. According to the company's management, the joint inspections are meant to increase safety and order on board.[1]
