Bus line 131 in Prague ran for the last time on Friday 30 October 2026 on the route Hradčanská – U Matěje – Bořislavka. From 31 October, trolleybuses of line 51 fully took over service on this route.[1]

The Prague 6 district and the Prague Public Transit Company organised afternoon rides of historic vehicles as a farewell. Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. three buses ran at twenty-minute intervals: a Škoda 706 RTO, a Karosa B 951E and an Irisbus Citybus. Rides were free until the vehicle's capacity was filled. Ondřej Matěj Hrubeš (ODS), the Prague 6 councillor for transport, said that the line had been a symbol of Hanspaulka and Bubeneč for generations of residents.[1]

The transit company operated line 131 from June 1963 on the route Revoluční (Dlouhá třída) – Sibiřské náměstí – Zelená – U Matěje. It ran roughly on today's route from the end of February 1993. Jan Barchánek, operations director of the transit company, said that because of the hilly terrain it was among the first lines designated for electrification.[1]

According to iDNES.cz, from 2 November 2026 passengers on lines 131 and 176 will be served definitively by trolleybuses of lines 51 and 53, which had until then run on these routes in parallel with buses. From 17 October 2026 trolleybuses had all weekend service, and buses remained only on working days. In peak hours line 51 is to run at intervals of four to six minutes and line 53 at intervals of six to eight minutes, mostly with Bozankaya SNG 12T battery trolleybuses. According to the transit company, the changeover is part of a project to electrify bus lines on the left bank of the Vltava.[2]
