The High Court in Prague annulled the verdict in the case of manipulated sports subsidies of Prague City Hall and returned the case for a new hearing. It decided at a closed session. According to the Czech News Agency, this follows from the Infosoud database.[1]
The annulled verdict found three of the nine defendants guilty. It sentenced former minister without portfolio Karel Březina and one of the officials to three years in prison, and another official to a three-year suspended sentence. According to the verdict, the commission chaired by Březina assessed subsidy applications in 2018 in a non-transparent manner and contrary to the rules for awarding grants. The acts were classified as procuring an advantage in the award of a public contract, abuse of the powers of a public official and breach of duty in the management of another's property.[1]
In the case of the other members of the commission, the court found no criminal conduct proved. Those facing the charges include the councillors Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL) and Stanislav Nekolný (ANO). After the annulment of the verdict the case is to be heard again.[1]
