Vladimír Vlček is the former Director General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. According to ČT24, his term ended in mid-July 2026, and the service was subsequently led by his deputy Petr Ošlejšek [1]. Ošlejšek also applied for the top post in the service, but the Minister of the Interior did not appoint him in the selection procedure and announced a new selection procedure. [3]

Successor

Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar (ANO) chose the service's new Director General, Colonel Martin Legner, from three candidates after a selection procedure, and is to appoint him on 1 October 2026 [1]. Legner has worked in the Interior Ministry's remit since 2003, joined the fire service in 2012 and from 2022 headed the integrated rescue system and fire protection units department at the Directorate General. [4] According to FORUM 24, the Director General of the fire service serves a five-year term [2].
